The Lonely Londoners at the Kiln Theatre casting announced & run extended | West End Theatre

The forthcoming production of The Lonely Londoners at the Kiln Theatre has announced full casting.

Transferring from a successful run at London’s Jermyn Street Theatre, The Lonely Londoners will play the Kiln Theatre from 10 January 2025. The run has also been extended, and will now end on 22 February 2025.

Reprising their roles from the Jermyn Street production will be Romario Simpson (Sket, Park Theatre) as Galahad, with Tobi Bakare as Lewis (Greenland, National Theatre); Shannon Hayes (Bitter Lemons, Park Theatre) as Agnes; Gilbert Kyem Jnr (Hamlet, Almeida) as Big City; Carol Moses (Clockwork, National Theatre) as Tanty; and Aimée Powell (Family Tree, UK tour) as Christina.

New to the company is Solomon Israel (A Raisin in the Sun, Lyric Hammersmith; Jitney, The Old Vic), who will play Moses.

Sam Selvon’s novel The Lonely Londoners has been adapted for the stage by Roy Williams, is directed by Ebenezer Bamgboye.

This critically acclaimed production opens a window into the hopes, dreams and realities of generation Windrush.

Joining Ebenezer Bamgboye in the creative team are: Set designer Laura Ann Price; Costume designer Anett Black; Lighting designer Elliot Griggs; Sound designer Tony Gayle; Movement director Nevena Stojkov; Voice and dialect coach Hazel Holder; Casting director Abby Galvin; Kiln-Mackintosh resident assistant director Imy Wyatt Corner; Associate sound designer Bella Kear; and Literary consultant Susheila Nasta.

Director Ebenezer Bamgboye said in a statement: “Sam Selvon’s novel, The Lonely Londoners, is a timeless masterpiece. Having been so lucky to have been given the opportunity to channel it through the medium of theatre once already, I feel doubly lucky for the opportunity to return back to it a second time, at a perfect venue, alongside a truly stellar group of actors and creatives.”

The Lonely Londoners is running at the Kiln Theatre from 10 January to 22 February 2025.
